Cotterill nearing First Team

Cotterill nearing First Team

The 18-year-old signed on deadline day from Bristol City for £2million. Cotterill was near to signing for Championship side Norwcih before the Latics made their late bid.

The Wales international has made jsut one appearance in the league this term, coming off the bench in the 1-0 away defeat at Portsmouth.

Cotterill vanished from the first 16, before returning against Fulham on the bench.

Jewell believes he has seen an improvement in his young gun during training: 'David is only 18, a quiet lad, and maybe he wasn't used to some of the demands we put on players here every day.

'Sometimes he has been a little overawed, but he has now started to find his feet and his confidence with us.

'I've seen that in training, and when he gets his full
confidence he will be a very good player for this club.'

Cotterill is expected to keep his place on the bench for Wigans trip to Bolton this Saturday.

he looked ok on the highlights against Bolton, it must of been a poor game to watch only two shorts on target between both teams.
