'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Their Name Is On Our Back - New Sponsors

The Latics main shirt sponsor, Intersport, was revealed a while back, but the club had a little surprise up their sleeve, or should I say on their backs, a rear sponsor, that's right, for the first time Wigan Athletic will have a sponsor's name on the back of their shirts.

The rear for the year are appliance company Premier Range, who are based in Todmordon, Lancashire.

The addition of the back sponsorship has created quite a bit of debate amongst the fans with various opinions, but it will bring a bit of extra cash into the club as the Premier League parachute payment drops lower.

'I think it looks ok and if it brings in some extra revenue for the club then so be it.'

Other clubs have already taken advantage of this empty space to slap an additional sponsor on the shirt, personally I have no problem with it and it does bring in extra revenue, without the Premier League big bucks, a club of the stature of the Latics need to make ends meet.

Latics CEO Jonathan Jackson says on the matter - 'We are delighted to link up with Premier Range ahead of the new season and to take advantage of the rules for the Football league which permits rear of shirt sponsorship - in that respect, it makes the new 2014-15 kit a real collector's item.

'Premier Range are an established and thriving local business and we thank them for their support. '

Whilst Premier Range director Martin Mensforth excitedly told the Latics official website - 'Premier Range are very proud to be involved with a club with such a rich and varied history as Wigan Athletic.

'We hope to spend plenty of time sat in the stands at the DW Stadium enjoying the atmosphere and cheering on Latics with all the other fans.'

Good stuff Marty, hope to see you there, ES2?
