Latics End Germany Tour With Win Against Paderborn

Latics End Germany Tour With Win Against Paderborn

Latics ended their one week Germany adventure with a 1-0 win against Bundesliga side SC Paderborn, James Perch scored the Latics goal with a close range header on 20 minutes following a corner taken by James Tavernier.

Newly promoted Paderborn gave the Latics a decent workout in their final warm up game before the season starts, although they came away with the win there were moments in the game when Rösler's men had to defend stoutly and Scott Carson also pulled off a couple of excellent stops.

McArthur and Cowie formed a good partnership in the centre of midfield, Riera looked good leading the line whilst McManaman was very impressive when on the ball.

A good week's workout with two tough games to get the squad up to speed ahead of next Saturday's season opener against Reading at the DW Stadium, although there are still some injury problems within the squad confidence is growing of a good campaign on the hrizon.
