Early Capital One Cup Team News - Burton v Latics

Latics head to Burton tonight for the Capital One cup 1st round tie, this will be the first meeting between the two clubs for over 40 years.

Latics boss Uwe Rösler has said he will ring the changes for the game, definitely out are James McClean, Ben Watson and Chris McCann, it is looking likely that both Don Cowie and James McArthur will also sit out the tie, though Roger Espinoza should be back in contention following his absence through injury on Saturday.

The defence could be shuffled and we may see Al Habsi get the nod between the sticks, Shaun Maloney will probably be on the bench and get 30 or so minutes as he builds up his game time, whilst up front Marc-Antoine Fortune could well be in line for a start.

Speaking about his team selection ahead of the Burton game Rösler said - 'I think in midfield we will have to make changes because Don Cowie I had to take off as a precautionary measure as he`s still not 100%'

'James McArthur as well, you saw how he just came back from injury but still how important he is to us - it was fantastic how he made that last run and got us the goal.

'There will be changes, Roger Espinoza will be available for us again after a spasm in his back and obviously we'll try to get reinforcements in certain areas.'

Latics possible - Al Habsi, Tavernier, Ramis, Barnett, Taylor, Huws, Fyvie, Espinoza, Waghorn, Fortune, Riera

Hot off their opening day away win at Oxford, Burton may well make a couple of changes to their starting line up for the tie against the Latics, Damien McCrory, Jimmy Phillips and Lee Bell are definitely out, but star striker Billy Kee is pushing for a start following recovery from a knee injury.

Burton from - McLaughlin, Edwards, Sharps, Taft, McFadzean, Akins, Mousinho, Weir, MacDonald, Knowles, Beavon, Lyness, Palmer, Slade, Cansdell-Sheriff, Harness, Kee, McGurk
