Bolton Reactions

Paul Jewell

'Today we knew we had to come here and battle, they've beaten Liverpool and Spurs here this season. Bolton have their style and are very physical, and that's fine, we had to match that and I felt we did, although it was never going to be a great match.

'I don't think they had a shot on target, and as a defensive unit, it was a great display from us. As a match it wasn't great, but you can't always play great football.

'There was a lot of disruption during the first half and I think the team deserves great credit for getting on with it.

'We have worked exceptionally hard on the training ground with the back four, and three weeks ago we might have lost here. We've got that steely determination about us back, and our confidence is back.

'Bolton are a very good team, but today I think all the plaudits should be awarded to my team. Lee [McCulloch] has been an integral part of our team for years, and he hasn't been in the starting line-up recently but it was a really good goal and I am delighted for him.

'This result is nice for the team, because three consecutive clean sheets in the Premiership is very hard to obtain. We have to use this now to take it into our home game next week.'
