Meet The Ref - Charlton v Latics - Andy D'Urso

Latics travel down to London on Saturday to face Charlton at the Valley in the second Championship game of the new campaign, hopefully keeping the peace on the field of play will be Billericay's very own, Andy D'Urso.

Andy D'Usro - Still Going!

The enforcer from Essex was in charge of two Latics games last season, both at the DW, Yeovil Town and Blackpool, at the end of the Yeovil game D'Urso added on six minutes stoppage time with the Glovers equalising with the very last kick of the ball, the game ended 3-3, an exciting and entertaining affair but where his six minutes of stoppage time came from is a mystery, especially considering that no player had required treatment from the physio's.

The Blackpool encounter was our last league game of the season at the DW, that ended in a poor performance and a shock 2-0 away win for the Tangerines, hopefully those two matches aren't omens when D'Urso is in charge of Latics games.

The 50 year old is in his 21st season as a Football League ref having started out in 1994, he made the Premiership by the 1999/00 season and was appointed as a FIFA ref a season later, unfortunately for Billericay Dickie he was never far from controversial incidents and found himself demoted back to the Football League by 2004/05.

So far this season D'Urso has had two games, one in League 1, Bradford 3 Coventry 2, the second in the Capital One cup, Millwall 1 Wycombe 0.
