McCulloch Has No Appeal
Wigan have said they will not appeal against Lee McCulloch's sending off during the 1-0 win over Newcastle. I'll repeat that, 1-0 win over Newcastle. Ahhh, sounds good!
27 year old McCulloch was shown red for a challenge on Emre. He admits: 'It was my own fault because it was a bad tackle, I just mistimed it. I think it was harsh to get a straight red card - although it was a definite booking - but there's nothing I can do about it now. I didn't have my best game on Saturday and was perhaps a yard off the pace.'
McCulloch, will now serve a three-game ban and will miss games against Villa, Fulham and Watford. The disappointment at being banned might be countered by the fact he suffered a knee injury whilst committing the foul so would have been more than likely to have missed at least a couple of those games anyway.
