Paul Scharner has signed a three-and-a-half year deal up to the end of the 2008/9 season. He becomes a WIgan player from the 1st of January but won't be eligable to play until the Leeds United game on the 7th.
It's believed the fee was in the region of £2.5 Million. His main position is centre-half but he can also play in midfield.
He said that one of the reasons he choose to sign for Wigan is the prospect of European football next season.
