Scharner Signs!

Paul Scharner has signed a three-and-a-half year deal up to the end of the 2008/9 season. He becomes a WIgan player from the 1st of January but won't be eligable to play until the Leeds United game on the 7th.

It's believed the fee was in the region of 2.5 Million. His main position is centre-half but he can also play in midfield.

He said that one of the reasons he choose to sign for Wigan is the prospect of European football next season.
