Buxton In Team Of Midweek (17/2/17)

Wigan Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Jake Buxton in the one nil victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek at the Molineux was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Buxton was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Wolverhampton Wanderers were the only Sky Bet Championship side not to score on Valentine's Day, with Wigan able to keep them at bay. Buxton was key to that with a determined defensive display, and he grabbed a late winner to earn the Latics three vital points.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Buxton for his recognition, but the most important thing about the game was of course the points.
