Cotteril Injury Causes Concern

The young winger hurt ligaments during a reserve-team encounter against Newcastle United in midweek and was forced off after an hour.

Reports have suggested that Cotterill could miss the next six weeks of Wigan's battle to avoid relegation from the Premiership.

The Wales international has made 14 appearances in the league - five from the start - since joining The Latics from Bristol City in August.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Wigan could add to their strike-force with a £500,000 swoop for Chesterfield's Caleb Folan.

Paul Jewell is keen to beef up his attack and has had the 12-goal Folan watched in recent weeks.

The Wigan boss also recently made a near club record offer for an unnamed player, with reports in Croatia suggesting his target was Ivica Olic.

The Croatia international currently plays for Russian club CSKA Moscow, but reports in his homeland claim the forward is not keen on a move to the JJB Stadium.
