Roundup: Gomez to Bulgaria, Kev to Old Folks Home
Prepare your rotten tangerines and/or 2013 vintage champagne for this ex-Latic transfer roundup, for it will surely contain players you simultaneously loathe and adore. Like a vinegar flavoured French fancy.
Oh yeah, you know I'm talking about Jordi Gomez. The 32-year old has cropped up in Bulgaria, and is expected to sign for Levski Sofia on a 3-year deal (Novinite).
J-Go left Latics in January for Rayo Vallecano, appearing 12 times in the Spanish Segunda Division last season. So now you know what Mister Marmite has been spreading on his toast these past few months - something stereotypically Spanish, probably.
At the age of 34, Kev McNaughton finally changed his Instagram location to the 'Old Folks Home' (Wales Online) as he used the social network to announce his retirement from the game:
'Feel privileged to have played at some great clubs along the way and to have played for 17 years I feel very fortunate.'
Oh, but we all know which was the biggest of those great clubs… Bolton Wanderers, of course. Wigan doesn't count as he only featured in three games - losses against Bury (League Cup) Coventry and Gillingham. Hah!
Chris Sang, formerly of the Wigan Athletic academy, has signed for a Bury on a 2-year deal (Bury Times). The 18-year old wasn't given a new deal after winning the EFL Youth Alliance title with Latics, but will be appearing at Gigg Lane this season.
...Unless he's loaned back to Wigan for 12 months, of course. But that would never happen in 2017 - don't be silly!
