August MotM Nomination - Cook (Wigan)

The August nominations for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month Award are:

Paul Cook (Wigan Athletic)
Began this season where he left off last term, as a manager of the month nominee. That award was for Portsmouth in League Two, which shows the instant impact he has made in Lancashire, guiding his new team to 10 points from a possible 12.

Paul Hurst (Shrewsbury Town)
Spent the summer making shrewd acquisitions of players he trusts and then moulding them into a side capable of challenging at the top of League One. Three wins and a draw brought in 10 points and gave the Shrews a flying start.

Grant McCann (Peterborough United)
Revived the Posh tradition of goals and entertainment in equal measure as he led them to the top of League One with a perfect record of four straight wins with a 12-4 goal differential, which included 4-1 away victories at Bristol Rovers and Northampton.

Uwe Rosler (Fleetwood Town)
Stayed loyal to Fleetwood - even after losing in the play-offs - when other clubs came calling and began the new campaign in stirring fashion, winning the first three games without conceding and collecting nine points from 12.

Winners will be announced on Friday 8th September 2017.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
