Skoko may leave

Australian midfielder Josip Skoko may leave The Latics in the January transfer window to further his World Cup ambitions.

His transfer to Wigan was beset by work-permit problems, international call-ups and then by injuries as his was gaining a place in the first team.

He said 'January will tell me a lot. If I get a clear signal that I'm not going to be playing regularly, then I'll have to look at other avenues. I'll have to sit down and really think about it. But I back my ability to be in the side, so I'm not that worried about it just yet. It's just a matter of opportunity.'

'Obviously there's a lot of competition in midfield for the Socceroos, but I don't have a problem with that, there are a lot of good players in the mix, and the positive is we seem to have a lot of talent coming through. Obviously I want to be in the side at the World Cup, and I'm still hoping to fight my way back in there.'
