Scharner to Start
Latics' new signing Paul Scharner is likely to start against either Leeds United in the FA Cup or Arsenal in the Carling Cup.
In the past Paul Jewell has played the shadow squad in cup games, but then we have never progressed so far in the League Cup that it overlapped with the FA Cup before.
With a thirteen day gap in between league games I would imagine that most of the squad will feature in one of the two cup games. The only question would be whether he would play two roughly equal teams, or play the stronger team against Arsenal and the shadow team against Leeds.
