Latics v Boro Preview

Following on from the lack lustre performance at Anfield and last weeks capitulation to West Ham Jewell must surely ring the changes.

Matt Jackson is looking tired in the warm-ups and should have been rested four games back. Speed merchant David Unsworth might bring some experience, but that`s about it.

With DeZeeuw injured, surely the centre half pairing has to be Boyce and Scharner.

Scharner is a good player but the game passes him by in midfield, for goodness sake he is an international centre back, please play him there.

With Boyce at centre half the door is then open for Ryan Taylor to come back in at right back.

The quality of his set piece deliveries was sadly missed in the West Ham game.

I can`t recall one corner or free kick that found a Latics player.

One thing that Taylor has got in his locker is excellent delivery.

With Valencia returning from suspension he should be given the wide right berth in midfield, this would inject some much needed pace into our attacking play and give Jewell the chance to release Zinadine 'Killer` Kilbane to the, well to the bench.

Personally I like the Skoko - Landzaat combination in centre mid.

I know a lot of people disagree with this, but who else would we put in there?

Big Lee takes care of himself on the left, and after last week he owes us a good performance, hope his foot`s a little less sore.

Up front must be Heskey, but who with?

Aghahowa didn`t look comfortable last week when he came on and Folan seems to have dropped down the pecking order, that leaves little Henri, in what could be his last home game for the club (so could it be for many more if we go down).

Almost forgot, John Filan`s been a superb servant to our club, but bring back Big Mike Pollitt.

Whatever team Jewell puts out they will need to show much more fight than they have done recently and if we down go down, please let`s go down battling.
