'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Here We Are Again

Before the West Ham game, last week, there was an air of optimism.

The sun was shinning, ticket sales for the game had been flying and the town was buzzing, there was a cup final feel about the day.

What a difference this week.

A quick look outside and the weather is as miserable as I am.

There is a strange feeling about, not of expectation, but of dread.

What ever happens today, there will still be next week, but anything other than a win could see us in the bottom three in the Premiership for the first time.

If that happens, I for one don`t think we have the spirit to get back out.

That will be it, relegation.

Reality is beginning to set in, the abyss is staring us in the face.

Part of my role today is to get behind the team, give them encouragement, sing for them loud and proud.

I will do my bit.

Part of the player`s role today is to show some fight, they must let me know that they want what I want.

A victory

Three points would bring hope, strong hope.

We would go into the final game with at least one foot firmly stood in the Prem.

There`s been distraction this week, our chairman took it upon himself to shout to the world that he was going to sue the Premier League over the West Ham affair.

This is a little bit embarrassing, if he is going to take them to court then do it, but do it with dignity and not brashness.

We must forget about West Ham, Charlton, Sheffield United and Fulham, we have to be concentrating our whole efforts on the game today against Middlesbrough.

Don`t take the defeatist attitude Mr. Whelan, because it`s rubbing off on me.

I don`t want to feel down, fearing what`s coming, I want to be positive, excited at the prospect of my team going out this afternoon and giving a good show of themselves.

There is still hope, I know we can play well, I`ve it happen seen twice this season.

Come five o`clock let`s pray that some of this doom`s been lifted or it is going to be a bad bank holiday weekend for the wife!
