Contrary to some reports, Latics target Matt Jansen has not been training with Manchester City after being released by Blackburn Rovers yesterday.
Many sources had reported that he would be training at Eastlands but it appears that he has turned down Stuart Pearce’s offer and is still looking for a new club.
It may be that Man City were only offering a short-term deal as he has said that he wants a longer term deal at a new club. Perhaps he is only interested in playing for a bigger club so he may still want to come to us.
Given his injury problems over the last few years I think it unlikely that he would be offered a long-term deal by Paul Jewell.
One downside is that he has already played in the League Cup this season and therefore would be ineligible for the 2nd leg tie against Arsenal
