Happy Birthday Wigan Athletic

The Latics celebrate their 75th birthday today as we approach what could well be classed as the most important game in the clubs history.

Following the demise of Wigan Borough F.C. a public meeting took place on May 9th 1932, at the Queens Hall in the town centre; the purpose was to form an Association Football Club and keep football in the town, out of this meeting Wigan Athletic were born.

Through out the years there have been many ups and downs for the followers of the club.

In recent times the Latics have been very much in the ascendancy suffering only one relegation in the previous 30 years as a league club.

Sundays match at Sheffield United will provide the team an opportunity to give the club a belated birthday present, a win would see the Latics safe from relegation and an estimated 30 million would find its way into the clubs bank account.

Wish the club 'Happy Birthday` and good luck for Sunday by visiting the 'Latics Speyk` message board
