Chris Is The New Man

Chris Is The New Man

Following the departure of Paul Jewell this morning the Latics have been quick to appoint his replacement.

Chairman Dave Whelan offered the job of manager to Chris Hutchings within an hour of Paul Jewells resignation.

Hutchings found himself in a similar position when Jewell left Bradford in 2000.

Unfortunately Chris was sacked at the Bantams after they won only seven of his twenty one games in charge.

Chris Hutchings is well known to Latics fans in his role as assistant to Jewell for the past six years.

A quick appointment was necessary with preparations needing to be made for pre-season and players contracts to sort out.

Lets hope that Chris Hutchings can build on what success there has been at the JJB over the past few years and lead us to at least mid-table mediocrity next season.

Is Hutchings the right man for the job, should we have gone for a big name or an up and coming manager?
