Wigan Eye-Up McCann

Latics boss Chris Hutchings is reportedly preparing a 2 million bid for Aston Villa midfielder Gavin McCann.

According to the Sunday People, Hutchings is desperate to talk to the 29 year old in a bid to get him to the JJB.

Blackpool born McCann played 30 league games for Villa last season scoring once.

The former Everton and Sunderland player has a wealth of experience at the top level.

He was an integral part of the Sunderland set-up, becoming one of Peter Reid's most exciting young players and earned an England cap under Sven Goran Eriksson.

McCann left Sunderland in July 2003 signing a 3-year contract with David O'Leary's Aston Villa for 2.25million.

Is Gavin McCann the player to start the Latics spending spree?

McCann is a world class player, he could become your Henry!
bluedose
might do a decent job for you, he certainly gives his all, never sure if his all is quite good enough for top 8 teams though.
The Fear
We need someone and quick, we're down to 16 and that includes a couple of kids, if Baines goes, as is predicted, we are in danger of not having a starting eleven for the pre season friendlies! I know its only May, but I've supported this club long enough to know we are in trouble!!!
