'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Don`t You Just Love it

So the season`s finally ended, Derby will be joining us in the Prem, along with Sunderland and Birmingham.

Although I don`t particularly like West Brom (don`t know why), I felt a little sorry for them today.

To lose in a play off final is terrible, remember May 28th 2000, it took me three years to recover from that day, and I still carry the scars.

Anyways June will be upon us this week and a frenzy in the transfer market awaits.

Taking a stock of the season just gone will leave any Latics supporter knowing that we just aren`t good enough with the players we`ve got.

Of the players who came in last season only Heskey and Boyce were anything like, and they have their doubters.

Kirkland, Kilbane, Hall, Landzaat, Valencia etc did not live up to their expectations and their poor form rubbed off on others in the team.

We need a complete overall of playing staff with additions in every position, that`s eleven new players required.

Uncle Dave`s promise of £20 million won`t go far in supplying the quality that is needed to avoid another relegation battle let alone progress to the next level.

Early targets suggest that we will be concentrating on the midfield with Gavin McCann being mooted following the failure to bring in Lee Carsley, both good pro`s but they hardly set the footballing world on fire.

Mario Melchiot is another player who is reportedly considering a move to the JJB, wow I can`t wait.

John Benson may just be the surprise name to become Chris Hutchings assistant, if that`s the case then God help Hutch.

I hope against hope that Bainsey won`t leave, but I think he could be the start of fat Sam`s Geordie revolution.

Let`s hope that the revolving door at the JJB brings in some players soon so that the pre-season photo shoot will have some players in it.

Am I panicking too soon or do you think I have good reason to.

There must be a big NO to any thought of John Benson getting to grips with the management side of the club, personally I wish he would slide into retirement and take Maurice with him
