Liverpool`s Hyypia a Wigan Target

It is still being reported by various news outlets that Sami Hyypia remains in Chris Hutchings sights.

Hyypia in the final year of his contract at Anfield could be tempted by the prospect of regular first team football and a long contract at the JJB.

Hutchings is desperate to re-build the Latics his way, already stating that he didn`t fancy some of former manager Paul Jewell`s targets.

To sign the Finnish International would be a real coup for the Latics and show a good deal of ambition on the clubs part.

Meanwhile Mario Melchiot continues to be linked to the club following his release by French side Rennes.

Melchiot is known to be in personal contact with his former Birmingham City colleague and Latics General Manager John Benson.

Hyypia for the Latics, what`s your thought on him as a potential signing?

This one keeps popping up, maybe there is a bit of truth there and he could be considering a switch to the JJB, lets hope so

I think it keeps cropping up because of the proximity of the clubs more than anything else. But the Titus Bramble signing (I won't say anything nasty about him, I promise) seems to suggest that Sami Hyypia won't be moving to Wigan. Hyppia himself has said that Rafa Benitez has told him that he's still part of the gameplan at Liverpool so I wouldn't expect him to leave Anfield this summer.

Sami Hyypia should join, why should he stay at pool?? he is never going to get a game

I dont think hyypia will be coming, just the press regurgitating old stories, but, if he did i think he would be a steadying influence on bramble and hopefully they could have formed a half decent partnership, but it aint gonna happen

He would be a great addition to your squad, but i'm quietly confident that he is staying at liverpool. With the fans apparently being the worst over there, would you dare to leave. Lol (just kidding guys)

You sure you want him? Not the fastest one out there you know....
