Wigan to tempt Spurs for Murphy

Latics manager Chrsi Hutchings is preparing a £1.5 million bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy according to the Daily Mail.

Murphy has been linked with a move to the Latics for the past two seasons, indeed he was offered by Spurs as part of the Chimbonda deal last August.

30 year old Chester born midfielder Murphy started his career as a trainee at Crewe playing 134 times for the Alex before moving to Liverpool in 1997 where he made 168 appearances.

Charlton paid £2.5 million for the midfielder in 2004 and he went on to make 56 appearances for the Addicks

He moved on to current club Spurs on January deadline day 2006 for £2 million, he has made 22 appearances for the North London club in his time there.

Murphy also has nine England caps.

Chris Hutchings is hoping to transform the Latics midfield, would Murphy be a good acquisition?

I believe Murphy would make a good squad member and probably improve our midfield

Good player - he'll do you a job...
its quiet at the lib
please please please take murphy from us. i don't know why we signed him. ok, he plays the occasional good pass, but he is shattered after 5 minutes, has the pace and mobility of a fish and just goes missing in every game. he has served no purpose since he signed and i would happily see spurs pay someone to take him off our hands!

H e would be a great buy and will nevr impress martin Jol.. he is a very good player we all know it..

always thought danny boy was over rated when he was at liverpool, but he would definately improve our current midfield
worbo
murphy's problem is confidence, he only seems to play well when given a run in first team. as we have plenty of midfielders he will not get a decent run. if he moves to wigan i think he will do well if the manager perserveres for a month or two.

i think its ether Brown or Murphy. i would see murphy leaving spurs dnt like him & he doesnt play, both are the same type of player good ball winner and pases well but Brown seems to be a crucial part at Fulham kept them going a bit and would be a miss if he did leave ..which could be Lawrie as took over and might want to change things around similar to here

Can we swap Murphy with Baines?

No chance mutley Bainesy is staying put, well at least for the next three weeks
