Whelan Makes Wigan Pledge

Whelan Makes Wigan Pledge

Following the sale of his JJB Sports shareholding many Latics fans wondered what chairman Dave Whelan`s intentions were for the future of the club.

Whelan told the official site 'I would like to assure fans that on-going developments with my other businesses interests does not affect Wigan Athletic`

He went on to say that his commitment has never been stronger and that he is really looking forward to the new season.

He also told the official site 'My dream is to establish Wigan Athletic as a Premier League club and I consider this as work in progress`

Latics Chief Executive, Brenda Spencer also told the official web site that Whelan`s ambitions knew no bounds and that she`d like to assure fans that there was some really exciting times ahead.

She went on to talk about Chris Hutchings and declared that more new signings were imminent and that there is a real determination and hunger to get better and bigger as a club.

Let`s hope that Whelan is true to his word and that he continues to invest in Wigan Athletic like he has done for the past 12 years.
