Wigan Athletic Transfer Update

The Latics are linked with a host of players at the moment, and there have been one or two of these seen at the JJB.

Mario Melchiot is expected to sign within the next couple of days following his medical today (Tuesday)

Also in town today for talks was former Latics star, and ex-Manchester United and West Ham goalkeeper Roy Carroll.

It appears the stumbling block to Roy returning to the JJB would be his position as under-study to Chris Kirkland

Personally I cant see this as a major concern with Kirkland set to miss half a season each year with some strange injury.

If the Carroll deal does fall through then Hutchings could turn his attention to Dorus De Vries, the Dutch keeper currently at Dunfermline Athletic who would be, like Carroll, available on a free transfer.

The Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy`s link to the Latics appear to be the work of his agent who is attempting to get him out of Spurs and into a side where he can get some regular first team action.

Murphy would be an excellent signing for the Latics and make an improvement on the current midfield at the club, keep up the pressure Mr. Murphy`s agent.

Both Mike Pollitt and Josip Skoko have told the club that they will put pen to paper on new contracts that are on offer once they return from holiday.

Andreas Granqvist is yet to decide if he is willing to accept the two year deal that Hutch has offered him

Apparently he is one of the players who Jewell and Hutchings disagreed about, with Jewell willing to let the Swede go, obviously Hutch sees something there.

Michael Brown the Fulham player who Latics tried to sign a couple of years ago, is reported once again to be linked with a return up north with a possible move to the Latics.

Whatever the new on the transfer front with comings or goings be sure to check the Vital Wigan home page, the place where you will here all the news first, we were the first to break the Bramble signing.

There is plenty going on at the moment behind the scenes, I have been assured that there will be at least three signings in the next few days

If Michael Brown could replicate his Sheff Utd form then he'd be a great signing!
