Webster Stays at Rangers

Latics defender Andy Webster is to extend his loan deal with Rangers until January 2008

The former Hearts player was expecting to sign for the Ibrox club, but due to complications in his transfer to Wigan he is unable to make the move permanent at the moment.

Webster made just five appearances for the Latics last season and he has been ordered by FIFA to pay his former employers, Hearts, 625,000.

Andy Webster became the first player to take advantage of a loop-hole in FIFA regulations but due to the extremely complicated nature of this it seems unlikely that other players will follow suit.

Was Webster a player who could have done a job for us, or were we just a stepping stone for a move to Rangers?

Not off the top of my head, but, he made a big mistake in a game that led to a goal, was dragged off and never played again, he also looked very slow

he never got a fair crack at the whip imo. watch him at hearts and in the season where they got 2nd, he was influential in it.
