Wigan and Man Utd in Masters Final

A fantastic evening`s entertainment ended with the Latics losing 2-1 to Manchester United in the final of the North West Masters tournament at the MEN arena

The four teams involved, Bolton Man City, Man Utd and Wigan, played their games in the right spirit and provided some good family entertainment.

The Latics started against Man U and lost 2-1

Next up was a 3-3 draw against tournament favourites Man City.

In their last group game the Latics needed to beat local rivals Bolton Wanderers to reach the final and didn`t they just with a resounding 5-1 thrashing of a Wanderers team consisting of former Latics favourites Green, Kelly and Lee

The Latics lacked a bit of experience in the final and allowed their opponents to dictate the pattern of play and it was no surprise when Man U scored.

In the second half the Latics got back in the game and equalised through skipper John Doolan only for Clayton Blackmore to score United`s winner with 16 seconds remaining on the clock

A fantastic display from the guys in blue 'n white, it was good to see some old favourites, Neil Rimmer still looks like a 12 year old!

Well done lads you did us proud.

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
