Scharner stays at Wigan

The Wigan Observer in an interview with Latics Austrian midfield/defender Paul Scharner reported that he turned down a move up the East Lancs to Everton.

The 27 year old revealed that he had received an offer to join the Goodison Park outfit and went on holiday to consider it.

He decided to stay at the JJB declaring that he thought the Latics have better prospects this coming season than their more illustrious Merseyside rivals

This is great news for Wigan and shows that the players are behind new manager Chris Hutchings

In the interview Scharner went on to say that he preferred playing in midfield and looked forward to the competition for places in the coming season.

He said that he wanted the fans to see him play a big part for the Latics this season.

Paul Scharner a midfield general or cultured centre back?

Would Scharner make a good captain for the Latics?

Scharner to stay and maybe next captain

interesting to rate Wigan above the chances of Everton. Difficult shout that, Everton are so hard to predict as they seem to be yo-yoing up and down the Prem each season + they have bad debts, but Moyes is a very bright manager. Hmmm. Villa above both is my verdict!!!
The Fear
We'll see, I seem to recall a £10 donation to a charity of my choice by a few people if the mighty 'tics finish above Villa this season.
worbo
yes, too right worbo, care to match the offer?!?!?!
The Fear
I'll match it if...and I'm testing your confidence here...you'll give me a five point start, not too much to ask, after all we are only little Wigan
worbo
LOL. get orf worbo, you'll either finish above us or you won't!!!!!! blimey, I'm a villa fan, confidence is something that will have to be re-built after years of mismanagement. Anyway, wouldn't the FA have to approve you getting a five point start? Lets face it, they let West Ham get away with murder, so you might just be lucky! lol
The Fear
Right then...we finished above you in our first season...last year was a blip, I am confident, without a points handicap, that we will finish in top 10 (me thinks 8th) and Villa 12th, so I will accept your charity challenge on an equal footing...a tenner it is, and the little orphans in Wigan will get a nice treat come next May
worbo
wigan finish 8th! don't make me laugh! ad a 1 in front of that is bein more realistic! you signed titus bramble and antoine sibierski for *****s sake! you will be conceding an not scoring. an while i'm at it heskey is a pile off elephant *****!

i'm while i'm at it (this is to the fear) you call us a yo yo team, but at least were not always a mid table team! thats all your ever going to be. you have got an average team an a clueless manager! we've near enough got rid of all the **** we had in the walter smith days. the team we have now couldn't possibly have us finishing in the bottom half of the table!
