Wigan Offer Baines New Deal

Latics are set to offer Leighton Baines a new improved contract in a bid to tie him down at the JJB.

Speculation over a possible move away from Wigan for Baines has dominated web sites and newspapers alike for the past few weeks.

Sunderland have had two bids turned down by Latics manager Chris Hutchings with the Hutch stating that he wants to build his team around the talented young left back

There aren`t many quality players around in Baines` position and it makes good sense for the club to try and secure his services long term.

Bainesy, who is now the longest serving player at the JJB has been with the Latics for six years and he made his league debut for the club in division two, he`s played a major role in the success of the past few seasons.

How important is it to keep hold of Bainesy?

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
