FC Zwolle 0 - 2 Wigan Athletic

Paul Scharner headed Latics in front converting a David Cotterill cross on three minutes.

Latics went further in front on 12 minutes when following good work by Jason Koumas, Julius Aghahowa had a header blocked but Caleb Folan was on hand to put the rebound away.

Latics hit the woodwork in the second half through David Cotterill and in the last twenty minutes Chris Kirkland, on as replacement for Mike Pollitt, saved TWO penalties

FC Zwolle won their last game 14 - 0 against Olympia'28 who ever they are

Getting his sights in Mike for the first game of the season!
worbo
Reckon he'll get a hatrick this time? maybe a 70 yard last minute winner?
EvertonMike
Fingers crossed...Just been reading some stuff Mike on the plight of Everton, apparently the fans are up in arms about the lack of cash Kenwright is making available and some comment from a guy who said there is only a minority of fans disgruntled had them all kicking off!
worbo
I think in a way our lack of willingness to spend the money on these average british players going for triple their value will help us in the long run. For example i'd much rather have Vogel and Pienarr for a loan and free, than spend 10 mil on richardson and koumas.
EvertonMike
I know what you are saying Mike and I cant understand the prices being quoted and being paid, but thats the prem! Spurs paid £10 mil for an untried 19 year old left back! It's all gone mental
worbo
Bale is very weak on the ball and will need to mature A LOT to be anywhere near good enough. Darren Bent is a good forward, he is however a limited forward and should NEVER be going for twice as much as AJ did. I hear boro want 17 mil for the yak now too, i mean come on he is one dimensional if your being generous! foreign market is the way to go but you need to be in Europe to attract them so Wigan are doing what they can, i do however think you are mad for taking sibierski and Bramble!
EvertonMike
Sibs will be a good squad player for us...Bramble well the jury's out
