Wigan Athletic Sunday Review

What a week at the Latics

Started off by the club jetting off to Holland on a training trip, with potential new signing Marlon Harewood mulling over his proposed move to the JJB with his flight tickets waiting at Manchester Airport.

Monday and in steps Martin O`Neil and Aston Villa

That was it Harewood signed for the Villa and the Latics were looking for a refund on a return trip to Amsterdam.

No hard feelings Villa fans, not too sure if most Latics supporters wanted him at the club any how

Tuesday and the Latics played their first pre-season game against FC Zwolle,

Zwolle are a Dutch second division club, and with goals from Folan and Scharner the Latics eased to victory.

The game saw the introduction of the new away kit, very smart, and the debuts of Bramble, Melchiot and Koumas.

Melchiot was wearing the captains arm band

Wednesday and rumours started to circulate that Leighton Baines could be on his way with Sunderland making another bid

Roy Keane was in the news for apparently slagging off his Latics counterpart Chris Hutchings

Thursday and Latics embark on their second friendly on Dutch soil this time at FC Den Bosch but the result was the same a 2-0 score line in Latics favour

Goals from Heskey and Scharner gave Latics a victory in a game they dominated from start to finish, they wore their new third kit for this fixture

Again Mario Melchiot wore the captains arm band

Friday and the lads arrive home from Holland

Chris Hutchings is at Christopher Park to meet Fulham player Michael Brown

Brown is in town for a medical and to discuss personal terms over a switch from Craven Cottage to the JJB

Brown leaves to mull over the transfer…Deja Vous!

Saturday and Leighton Baines is surprisingly given permission to speak to Sunderland over a proposed £7 million transfer to the Stadium of Light

A little footnote to the Baines story is Sunderland might not be the only club he is speaking to in the North East with strong rumours of Newcastle coming in for him.

What will the next seven days bring?
