Wigan hoping to keep Baines

The Wigan Evening Post reports that the Latics are hoping that Leighton Baines will remain at the JJB despite giving him permission to speak to Sunderland

Baines is due for training at Christopher Park today (Monday) and with Latics boss Chris Hutchings not resigning himself to losing the young defender there may well be more to run in this story

It is believed that Sunderland are willing to meet the asking price but Baines is keen to move to a more established Premiership club than the Black Cats

With Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Newcastle United all showing an interest at some point over the summer Baines may want to hang on to see if one of the big boys come in with a firm bid.

Will Baines leave this summer?

Baines would be mad to leave you for a club which has got more chance of relegation than you guys, he should hang on iam sure he's good enough for a top half EPL team.

He's not gone yet...there is a feeling he is doing this to alert other clubs that he wants to move. BAines has no agent to tout him around, he is represented by the PFA, so we expect a bid from a bigger club in the next couple of days
