Everton Want to deal with Baines

It`s emerging that Everton have offered Wigan Athletic £4 million plus either James McFadden or Lee Carsley in an effort to tempt Chris Hutchings to sell Leighton Baines

The Goodison Park club are stuck to the £4 million cash offer due to a self imposed transfer limit

The Toffees will not go above this figure in monetary terms when bidding for a player

However to meet the Latics valuation of Baines they are prepared to offer a player as part of the deal, with the two players Everton value at £2 million being McFadden and Carsley

Hutch nearly signed Carsley in May on a free transfer before the midfield player decided to extend his contract at Goodison Park

It is believed that Carsley is indeed the man Latics want

The transfer could be completed as early as Monday or Tuesday of next week as both clubs appear to be prepared to do business

Today could be Baines`s last match in a Latics shirt as Hutch`s men travel to Halifax for their latest friendly

Personally I would prefer McFadden to Carsley merely for McFadden being younger and more versatile but Carsley won`t be a bad signing and he is Hutchings choice

Baines, £4 million and Lee Carsley, good deal for Latics or Everton?

If he is going then a player plus deal could be a good option, at least we wont be left hanging on ala Michael Brown

I have to say, you would probably be getting a better player in carsley despite his age, he is a true professional. McFadden has his moments but is a bit of a hot and cold player, he's also useless as a winger. Also can you confirm whether or not Baines is a blue or a red? I've heard contrasting stories.

Of course, ideally we at Everton don't want either of them to leave because our squad is threadbare as it is. Less than 25 first team players and four competitions next season. Not good!

Baines is a Red sorry to say
