Baines to give City 'local feel`

Baines to give City 'local feel`

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is planning to out bid Everton and offer Wigan Athletic their full asking price of £6.5 million for left back Leighton Baines

Baines is quickly becoming hot property with reports that Manchester United could also enter the race to sign the England under 21 international

Eriksson is spending big to try and get the team at Eastlands that he feels will be capable of challenging for honours

According to the Sunday People, Eriksson sees Baines as a player that would bring quality to his team and also keep a local touch which he feels is important

With Everton only offering £4.5 million for Baines, plus player exchange, the Latics may feel that straight cash for their want away defender will give them the opportunity to choose who they want to bring in, rather than accept the player that Everton are offering

Latics will be desperate for a left back if Baines leaves the club and there are reports that manager Chris Hutchings is already identifying possible replacements

One possibility being mooted about is West Bromwich Albion left back Paul Robinson

With the Latics having already dealt recently with West Brom through the Jason Koumas transfer this could be a deal that would possibly get completed quickly

Baines to City, what would we make of that?
