Wigan Athletic Ask the Fan Pt 3

Wigan Athletic Ask the Fan Pt 3

As part of the run in to the new season Vital Wigan talks to the Latics fans

The third interview in the series is with Vital Wigan regular baskerville lets see what he says

1 - How long have you been following Latics and what got you started?

31 years bloody hell didn`t realise it was that long. Went with a friend as was hooked

2 - What is your most memorable moment as a Latics fan? Good or Bad.

Carling cup semi final at Highbury, Latics getting to a cup final was beyond my wildest dreams.

I drove to the game only got home at four am and was up at six I was so full of adrenaline.

Went to the game with a Latics fan Terry Knowles who makes me look like a part timer and to share the victory with him was priceless.

The Arsenal fans were very gracious in defeat I have to say

3 - Since you have been following Latics what would your Best Eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

1. Tunks
2. Butler,
3. Baines
4. Methven
5. Jackson
6. Gore
7. Bullard
8. Purdie
9. Houghton
10. Lowe
11. Roberts

Fav player?

All time favourite... David Lowe

4 - What would you say is the best goal you have seen Latics score?

Roberts clincher at Highbury in that semi final, not the most spectacular but for its significance and for the fact that it epitomised the commitment and team spirit we had that season

5 - Best away ground visited?

Emirates, seats are very comfy and the view from wherever you sit is perfect.

Lets hope we have a good referee there next season
.
6 - What are your expectations for the new season?

Bottom 5, depends on bringing in a new striker and how CH alters the tactics from the aimless long ball last season

7- Are you pleased with the new signings made so far and is there any other player you would have liked to have seen us sign (realistically)?.

Yes but very disappointed we didn`t get Harewood

8 - What are your thoughts on how last season ended and how did it compare to your expectations?

The euphoria of escaping the drop on the last day of the season masks the fact that we played awful football for most of the season and were down at the bottom because we deserved to be.

Need more goals from midfield which looks less likely since Lee Mac went

9 -Despite the new signings, are there any areas in the side you think need adding to?

Left back and centre forward urgently

10 - Where do you sit at JJB?
