Robinson to Wigan Deal off

Vital Wigan have been led to believe that Paul Robinson`s dream move to the Latics looks to have fallen through at the last moment due to a life long medical condition

The West Brom and former Watford left back was expected to be unveiled at the JJB today as Chris Hutchings latest signing, instead that honour went to Fulham`s ex-skipper Michael Brown

According to one North East news paper Robinson was born without an anterior cruciate ligament, though this has not hampered his playing career so far, but it could cause him problems in his later playing years and may affect his ability to pass a stringent medical

Robinson is said to be heart broken by the collapse of the deal which appears to be through either Latics not taking the risk on him or insurance premiums being too expensive to cover him

Although there is no official confirmation of this story the delay in an announcement from the JJB does not sound good for Robinson`s chances of signing for the club

You gotta feel for Robinson...I remeber a similar case with Asa Hartford and Leeds in the 70's. Hartford had a hole in his heart but still went on to a super career with City and Scotland
