Baines completes Everton move

Leighton Baines was finally unveiled as an Everton player today

Baines made the switch to Goodison Park from the JJB putting pen to paper on a five year deal

Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchings is now on the look out for a new left back following Baines departure and is understood to be targeting West Brom`s Paul Robinson once again

Baines`s departure stuttered a little yesterday when a blood test during the medical revealed high blood sugar levels but this was down to the player suffering from a virus at the time

Now Bainesy has left our longest serving player is Mike Pollitt with just two years at the club and highlights Latics turn a round in staff since becoming a Premier League club

Chris Hutchings brought in five new players this term in an attempt to stamp his own style on the team which will hopefully be playing the game on the floor and not the route one stuff that we had to endure for most of last season

Baines leaving ends an era at the club and hopefully a new one will begin which can see Wigan Athletic becoming established in the Premier League, but first lets get a left back in before Saturday

Good deal for all concerned or should the Latics have held out for more than the reported 5 million?

Bad deal for the latics this. not just because he is our only left back but the club seriously undervalued him

I agree with you. Baines is worth more than 5 mil. Just a shame he went to Everton.

I justhope we spend the money on a quality relacement and dont try to get some one on the cheap

5 million is an absolute bargain IMO, defensivly we are looking good next year but need an attacking midfielder and striker in before the window closes

Its a real shame as Bainsy offered polish and consistency to an otherwise erractic backline. We need someone with more than determination and a solid work ethic to replace him.
