As part of the run in to the new season Vital Wigan talks to the Latics fans
The last interview in the series is with Vital Wigan`s most distant member NZLatic, lets see what he says:
1 - How long have you been following Latics and what got you started?
I left Wigan as a 6 year old to live in NZ, but my uncle, Billy Parkinson, has been a keen Latics supporter since the mid-70's.
We couldn't get coverage over here but I've been following the results since the early 80's.
Since we've been in the championship I've been able to get min by min updates off the net and now we're premiership I get to see lot's of matches live.
When we were promoted I got up in the middle of the night but could only get txt of the net...so after nearly wearing out my refresh button I still got to celebrate, but probably a bit quieter than you lot.
2 - What is your most memorable moment as a Latics fan? Good or Bad.
My most memorable moment would be when my brother and I were given a personal tour of the JJB when we were over there 2 years ago.
My brother stayed on and managed to get a seat to the Latics vs. Chelsea match, which I had to watch on TV back in NZ! :-(
I would also say that promotion to the premiership was a highlight because little old Latics actually made the national news over here for getting into the premiership.
Considering they normally only show rugby union on the news that was a huge thrill.
3 - Since you have been following Latics what would your Best Eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?
1. Chris Kirkland
2. Pascal Chimbonda
3. 'Arry DeZeeuw
4. Paul Scharner
5. Leighton Baines
6.
7. Jimmy Bullard
8.
9. Lee McCulloch
10. Emile Heskey
11. Henry Camara (when on form)
Fav Player - A toss up between Jimmy Bullard and Paul Scharner (with Heskey close behind)
4 - What would you say is the best goal you have seen Latics score?
Alan Mahon against Aston Villa was a beauty.
5 - Best away ground visited?
Never been to one
6 - What are your expectations for the new season?
Push up the table. Consolidate in the middle, hopefully.
7- Are you pleased with the new signings made so far and is there any other player you would have liked to have seen us sign (realistically)?.
Very pleased with Koumas, Sibierski and Brown.
Looking forward to Melchiot`s leadership at the back and I'm very hopeful for Granqvist, who looks promising.
The jury is still out on Bramble, but I hope I'm wrong!
Would like to have seen Harewood or even Mido.
8 - What are your thoughts on how last season ended and how did it compare to your expectations?
I think that we did extremely well to recover.
We looked in freefall but really dug deep when it came to the crunch match.
That attitude could be vital this year.
We also played some fantastic football, particularly the 2nd half against Chelsea at home and against Arsenal away.
9 -Despite the new signings, are there any areas in the side you think need adding to?
Strikers...at least 2.
10 - Where do you sit at JJB? Join Vital
I sit right in front of my 42' Plasma TV on my comfy sofa with my Latics shirt on.
Thanks for those answers NZLatic I hope you are cheering loudly this season for different reasons than us just staying up
