Wigans doubters spout crap

Wigans doubters spout crap

Well its kick off day, the start of a new beginning and already we are being written off by the so called experts

The Times` Joe Lovejoy as the Latics finishing 19th, Terry Venables in the Sun puts us down to finish 18th

Then at the BBC we have Saj Chowdhury, who? predicting that Hutchings will be this seasons Iain Dowie

And so it goes on, indeed I could fill this page with `tipsters` who declare that Wigan Athletic will be relegated

But what brings them to this conclusion?

The majority say the leaving of Paul Jewell and his replacement of Chris Hutchings

Well if we look at the Jewell element of their argument let me tell you if Paul Jewell was still in charge of the Latics I would fear for our survival this season

The man is a legend at Wigan, but last season was probably a season too far for him with the club

He made some poor signings and reverted to a long ball style of football that was alien to the Latics and their fans

Jewell was always negative when talking to the press, emphasising the 'Little Wigan` tag at every opportunity and constantly moaning about crowds and his failure to attract player to the club

So in a way Jewells departure isn`t that much of a disaster, so what about Chris Hutchings, promoted from within

Liverpool always promoted from within during their domination of English and European football

Bob Paisley one of the most successful managers of all time was promoted from within

Too many people look at Hutch, don`t know who he is, hit the google search button and find Bradford City manager for 12 games and just 137 days, that`s it. They make their judgement from there

Who is Chris Hutchings; he is a highly qualified, highly regarded and respected coach with abundance of enthusiasm, positive energy and according to the players, a very good man manager

Chris Hutchings has made some excellent signings for the club and maybe taken a gamble on one or two of them, but that gamble in itself is positive, a faint heart and all that

This season the Latics will surprise, they wont win the league or challenge for Europe but they certainly wont be in another relegation scrap

No we`ll leave that one to the darlings of the press Sunderland, who are throwing money around on second rate players and have a manager who is still trying to bully his way around the football circuit like he did when he was a player

Wigan Athletic season finish - respectable 12th and a big finger up the to the pundits

Im sick to death of being patronised by media people who dont know their arse from their elbow, when mentioning Latics, a Premier league club, talk about Rugny League! When talking to Fergie do they mention Basketball? I'd sooner we didnt get mentioned at all than saddled with that lot who rent our stadium evry other week
