Kirkland and Heskey miss out

Steve McClaren named his England squad today for the friendly against Germany next Wednesday and surprise, surprise no Wigan Athletic players will be involved.

There was a slender chance of Emile Heskey making a return with a shortage of fit strikers but it wasn`t to be with Peter Crouch included even though he`s not made the Liverpool team yet this season

Also in there is Michael Owen, who is still to prove his fitness and two Spurs subs Jermaine DeFoe and Darren Bent.

Steve Gerrard tags along with Liverpool declaring he`s no chance of playing due to an injury

From the Latics point of view it is a little disappointing that Chris Kirkland is omitted from the squad as he appears to be fully fit and back to his best

Portsmouth are well represented with David James and Sol Campbell both getting recalls despite being well passed 30

The full squad is:

Goalkeepers

Robinson (Tottenham), James (Portsmouth), Carson (Liverpool, on loan at Aston Villa)

Defenders

Richards (Manchester City), Brown (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Campbell (Portsmouth), Taylor (Newcastle), Neville (Everton), Shorey (Reading)

Midfield

Beckham (LA Galaxy), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Carrick (Manchester United), Barry (Aston Villa), Downing (Middlesbrough), Dyer (West Ham), Hargreaves (Manchester United)

Forwards

Smith (Newcastle), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Bent (Tottenham), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Tottenham).

Does McClaren know what he is doing or is he a clown?

McClaren is a clown and we wont qualify for the Euro's because he dont know what he's doin

Alan smith!? he doesnt do anything!! Heskey ,at least as a purpose and would put some effort in and care about what he is doing.Yet another disapointing result no doubt

The England set up is a joke including those muppets who appointed McLaren.
