Sibierski saved from long lay off

Sibierski saved from long lay off

Wigan Athletic boss Chris Hutchings revealed that Antoine Sibierski was taken off at West Ham with a tightening hamstring and not a pulled one as first feared.

Hutch told the Wigan Evening Post:

'Sibierski felt his hamstring tighten up and we got him off quickly, we didn't want him pulling the muscle, which would have meant him being out for two months."

Sibierski will be assessed this week to see if he can face his old club Newcastle United this weekend at St. James` park, though he is definitely out of Tuesdays Carling Cup tie against Hull

The former Manchester City player has been a big hit in his first three matches for the Latics scoring in each and he would have equalled Graeme Jones` record of scoring in his first four games for the club if he had managed that last Saturday

Sibierski will be missed if he is out for any length of time and it has highlighted the need for a quality striker to be brought to the club before this weekends transfer deadline

The squad IMO is still missing a couple of quality players, obviously a left back, but if we brought in a couple of players as well as a left back then just watch us go
