Landzaat out for weeks

Wigan Athletic and Holland midfielder Denny Landzaat suffered a fractured eye socket playing for the Latics against Newcastle on Saturday at St. James` Park

This will be a blow to both Marco Van Basten, his national manager, and Chris Hutchings, his club manager after Landzaat`s early season form had been very good

With Antonio Valencia out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, Paul Scharner suffering a reoccurrence of the knee injury that kept him out for a long spell last season, Antoine Sibierski suffering from hamstring trouble, Landzaat`s eye socket injury, Kevin Kilbane`s suspension and no left back at the club there just might be a regret or two for not being a little more active in the transfer market.

The squad is already down to bare bones and the £20 million transfer chest safely tucked up somewhere in the cupboards at the JJB with the transfer window shut till January

Here`s hoping we get no more injuries and Michael Brown no more bookings

Is our squad too small or is it good business?

Squad is way too small and injuries are bound to happen sooner rather than later
