Nash Looking To Grab No1 Spot

Wigan keeper Carlo Nash vows to claim the number 1 jersey at the JJB Stadium in his latest diary on www.icons.com .

'There are two other really good keepers here in Chris Kirkland and Michael Pollitt and we all respect each other and get on well, but we are also in huge competition with each other.

'I had a hamstring pull, which meant that I wasn't match fit when the season started and it's a matter of getting some games under my belt. The keeper's position is tough because you can't just drop a good keeper because another one is fit. I have to wait for my chance.

Nash also discusses team-mate Emile Heskey and predicts the striker will silence his critics if he's given chance in Saturday's game against Israel.

'I have to say I'm delighted that Emile Heskey is being brought back into the England squad - so long as he doesn't get injured. I sent him a text when I heard the news to congratulate him.

'I really think he deserves the chance and would do a fantastic job for England, especially if he plays alongside Michael Owen. They are players who can really compliment each other and know each other well.

'Before I came to Wigan I'm not sure I totally understood what Emile was all about. But after having trained with him and being involved with him much more closely I get him now and know what sort of player he is.'

Will be hard to shift Kirkland if he stays fit
number6
Kirky is number 1 number6, with pollitt number 2, so that makes nash number 3 in my book number6 no chance of being number 1
