Bainesy For England!

Bainesy For England!

We asked you which Wigan Athletic player most deserves an international call-up. Here are the results.

Leighton Baines ran away with the poll from the start. At one point he had 55% of the vote, with his nearest challenger being Pascal Chimbonda on 20%. However, after the drama of Wigan Athletic’s win over Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi-final on Tuesday, Mike Pollitt came from nowhere to challenge Chimbonda for second place. There was also a marked increase in the ‘None’ vote as fans of Arsenal and Manchester United fans invaded the site.

The final results were
Leighton Baines - 47% - Still the easy winner. Are you watching Sven?
Pascal Chimbonda - 14% - French favourite
Mike Pollitt - 13% - Arsenal game helped his vote
Jimmy Bullard - 6%
Ryan Taylor - 1%
None - 19%

Thank you to everyone who participated, look out for the new poll starting soon.

We must be the only team in the top half of the Premiership not to have a player in the England squad. If Baines or Pollitt were playing for ManUre or Chelski they would be automatic starts for Sven.

After the Arsenal game Mike Pollit must be ranked as the best English goalkeeper. Way better than Robinson or James.
