'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex Wigan defender needed a loan

Tottenham Hotspur and former Wigan Athletic defender Pascal Chimbonda is in the spotlight after being questioned by the police investigating corruption in football.

Chimbonda`s agent, Willie McKay, is reported in many of this morning newspapers giving his side of the story to an £18,000 loan that he made to the French right back

McKay says that following Chimbonda`s move from the Latics to Spurs that the player found himself a little short of money and asked his agent, McKay, for a loan of £18,000.

When I'm a little short I borrow a tenner

Willie McKay says he used a cheque to lend Chimbonda the money and everything is above board and I have no doubts that it is

The thing that does bother me though is that Chimbonda was a very well paid player at Latics and that he needed to borrow £18K, this leaves the question, what on earth do these players spend their money on?

18 grand to me would be a very large wedge of money, but the way McKay talks about it is so matter of fact and shows that football players truly do live in a different world!

We know they get paid too much, but are the current crop of Premiership players worth their crust?

Different world, 18k would be more than a years wage to a lot of supporters, the top players get paid far too much, but it isnt their fault, if someone offered me stupid money for doing my job Id take it
