Heskey in Geordie Link

Wigan Athletics Emile Heskey is wanted by Newcastle United according to the News of the World

The paper reports that Sam Allardyce wants to link Heskey and Owen together again at club level, I bet that`s something Chris Hutchings would like to do also

Owen and Heskey always play well together, when they both where at Liverpool and when they play for England, so you can see big Sam`s logic if the report is true, but what value would you put on Heskey?

To the Latics Heskey is priceless, but as Hutch says every player has his price.

Darren Bent cost Spurs 17 million, Heskey is a far better player, though a little older we should adjust accordingly to reach a price of 15 million

15 million for a current international forward and one who is at the top of his game sounds about right and if Newcastle came up with that sort of cash then I could see Mr Whelan taking the offer to triple his investment in Heskey

Would Heskey be successful at Newcastle?

Heskey is a confidence player and one who enjoys being out of the spot light, he has flourished at the Latics and it seems our little club is the right setting for him, similar to his time at Leicester

We have just taken Titus Bramble from Newcastle and he was pilloried week in week out up in the North East, yet he has been simply magnificent playing for us and with us he is very much out of the spot light

With Newcastle being so high profile and players performances being scrutinised by 50 odd thousand each week Heskey`s confidence might just suffer

He`s better off where he is and if Sam wants to pair Heskey up with Owen at club level, well then sell us Owen.

Do you think Heskey will be off in the January transfer window?
