Kirkland is England`s number1…Just

The voters on the last poll on Vital Wigan were asked to choose who should be England`s number 1 and two players stood out in a head to head race, Spurs Paul Robinson and Wigan`s Chris Kirkland

Kirkie gets the nod

The voting has been close all week but at the close of poll Chris Kirkland was one per cent in front and takes the fans title England`s number 1

Chris has been in fine form this season, though a slip at Reading last week cost a point, his handling in the Liverpool game yesterday was superb and he appears to be playing full of confidence at the moment.

Of course it`s McClarens job to pick his keeper and at the moment Kirkland isn`t even in the England squad, surely that must change the next time they are announced

What the poll asked - Who should be England`s number 1?

How you voted - Chris Kirkland 31%, Paul Robinson 30%, Scott Carson 23%

Current Poll - Yesterday`s game at the JJB left me feeling very frustrated, we played superb through out the team but lacked in one area, in front of goal

To choose a man of the match must be between, Jason Koumas, another skilful performance and created several chance that weren`t taken

Titus Bramble, a man mountain at the back and took no prisoners, once again a solid performance and surely he must be attracting attention from the England management

Michael Brown, he was every where yesterday and played the game very intelligently and he did something no Latics players has done for a while, badgered the ref through out

These are my contenders but who would you choose as - 'Latics man of the match Vs Liverpool?` Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

The poll can be accessed on the right side of this page

Jason Koumas looking a bargain at 5 mil, if we could get someone on the end of his crosses he would prove to be the batgain of the season

Well the voters voted and you cant argue with the people, he has been in superb form this season and when you see your own keeper week in week out you either have confidence in them or not and I for one would have no hesitation in picking Kirkie for England

strange...i thought that if ypu put a vote on the wigan site, and didnt include the REAL best english goalkeeper, i thought that that maybe scott carson would win...maybe, if you were to re-run the poll - on a neutral site, we could come up to a better conclusion...untill then, it has to be JAMO for no.1

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
