'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Club V Country

The voters on the last poll on Vital Wigan decided that clubs should come before country in the debate about players availability

Allegiances with clubs

Obviously looking at the result of the poll it would seem that supporters put their club before country, but what about the players and what if you played and had the chance to represent your country

As a young lad I used to dream of playing for England, I could think of no finer honour than turning out at Wembley and proudly wearing the three lions

It looks like times have changed and the paymasters are the ones where the loyalty is now aimed towards, still come on, World Cup final 2010 worbo captain of England, dream on

What the poll asked - Who should come first for players

How you voted - Club 70%, Country 30%

Current Poll - Todays game against Portsmouth is one of the low points of the season as far as I am concerned

We played without any passion, which is criminal and only a couple of players could come out of the game with any credit whatsoever, Titus Bramble again put his body on the line and Michael Brown ran himself into the ground chasing round the midfield, these two are my contenders but who would you choose as - 'Latics man of the match in the Portsmouth game?` Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

The poll can be accessed on the right side of this page

I think that country should always come first, but there should be no friendlies during the season only competitive games.

I'd go for club before country but - We all moan about the internationals disrupting the season but why does it only happen in football. In Rugby the clubs played on whilst the World Cup was contested, in cricket the counties play whilst the test matches are on – should football follow suite? - any thoughts?

I understand that the clubs pay the wages but surely it is an honour for the clubs to have their players get international recognition. I cant see comps taking place during the season like in other sports. Look at all the fuss with the ANC in January
