Melchiot looks to reunion

Melchiot looks to reunion

Wigan Athletic skipper Mario Melchiot is looking to return to the team after injury to face his former club Birmingham City at the weekend

Looking forward

The former Chelsea defender told the Wigan Evening Post that he has a good chance of being fit in time to face Birmingham and went on to say that he was really looking forward to going back to the Midlands and that the fans at St.Andrews are like a twelfth man.

Mario says he is looking forward to both the Birmingham and Chelsea games and states that players love to play against their former clubs.

Too early

Melchiot was taken off against Manchester United with a thigh strain and he pulled out of the Holland squad last week to get treatment, but the Portsmouth game came too early for him.

Well Mario, with both us and Birmingham on the same number of points I hope you make it back to fitness in time for the game and can spare the team on.

This is one game Hutch cant afford to lose as manager or his days will be numbered in charge of the Latics

Melchiot is very important, sometimes you only realise what players do for the team when they are missing, hurry up back Mario
