A new feature on Vital Wigan seeing what was said and by whom about the latest Latics match, today we look at the Chelsea game and see what the opposing managers and Sky pundit Matt Le Tissier had to say
Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchings
Talking about the penalty appeals, he said:
'Andreas Granqvist just tried to stand his ground and let Drogba barge into him.
'I don't have an issue with that.
'With Bent and Carvalho, it was just a coming together.
'I have no real argument with either of the decisions.
'I certainly don't think they were definite penalties.'
As for the 2nd goal and was the ball out of play:
'I didn't think it was out to be fair. My first reaction was that he had just about kept it in.
'I thought it was a right borderline decision. But if it had been clear-cut I would have said.'
"We are disappointed to lose, nobody likes losing, but we`ll take the positives out of the game"
Sky Sports Pundit and match analyser Matt Le Tissier
'They (Chelsea) got ahead with two goals early on and pretty much cruised it from there on in.
'In the second half Wigan did come out and have a bit of a go, but Chelsea took their foot off the pedal. If Wigan had got one back it just looked as if Chelsea would go up the other end and get another.'
'There are not many crumbs of comfort for Wigan,'
'It looked to me as if he might have brought Antoine Sibierski on a bit earlier.
'In the 10 minutes he was on he caused Chelsea a few problems and the fact that he was on for 10 minutes and had a couple of chances meant he was probably their best player.
'There weren't really any other outstanding contenders. But as I say, bringing him on with nine minutes to go? You've got to give him 20 at least.'
Chelsea manager Avram Grant
'We won again and we won well, we played very nicely in the first half especially and scored two goals.
'For us it is important what we are doing not what other teams are doing.'
Well there you have it, Hutch is once again taking the positives, and for all I don`t like him I have to agree with Le Tissier, Sibierski did come on too late and Chelsea were in control through out the game
We changed our formation much too late and never put the Chelsea back line under pressure until the closing stages of the game
We have the players to keep the club in this division now we need to get the tactical nouse
